Homework Is Ok, Tests Are Not

Try to think of preparing for your test as a process that begins with the first assignment.  You should consider the homework as a learning experience.

  • After you complete the assignment and discuss it in class, try to identify the key points of the section.
  • Try to rework the most difficult problems.
  • Pay attention to your quizzes.  Compare what you considered to be important with the quiz.   Make sure that your perspective of what is important is still in line with your teacher's view.
  • About one week before the test, begin a final review process.  At this point, use review materials assigned in class, quizzes and notecards to guide you.  Even when you believe that you understand everything clearly, you should continue to review and pose new questions to solve.  Math tests will offer you a series of problems to solve, so you need to keep finding new ones.
