Read without distractions.
Turn off sound input so you can hear the words of the text. Turn off computers, ipods, cds, dvds, videos, televisions, instant messaging, cell phones or any other aural input.
Read with attention.
Notice what kind of material you are reading, and adjust your reading style.
Read poetry out loud more than once: to yourself, or to a listener.
Read literature out loud as well as silently; listen to the voices of the author and the characters.
