Quarter 2
Quarter 2

Committee 1:

  • First Semester Field Day
    • Collaborated with Community Council to organize and host Field Day
    • Provided Raising Cane's catering and worked with the cafeteria to provide burgers and ice cream
    • Brought a bouncy relay race house for field day entertainment
    • Sold food tickets and coordinated logistics with the Business Office
  • Winter Week
    • Coordinated fun activities on the Quad and played winter music daily
    • Collaborated with the cafeteria to offer free winter treats
    • Brought free Cinnabon to campus the day before Winter Break
  • Winter Market
    • Organized an event with over 15 vendors, selling artisan goods and spreading holiday cheer with the community
  • Worked with SLIDE Leaders to organize WinterFest 
    • Bolstered school spirit through WinterFest with musical performances, a “reindeer ride” skit, and informative presentations on winter holidays 

 

Committee 2: 

  • First Quarter Progress Report 
    • Detailed Prefect Council’s achievements during First Quarter in order to promote transparency
  • Halloween Activities 
    • Organized annual costume contest with 21 contestants
    • Hosted a pie-eating contest with 7 contestants
    • Provided free candy around campus 
  • Dodgeball Tournament
    • Organized the 2023 Dodgeball Tournament with 12 teams and 96 participants 
  • Athletics Activities Cabinets
    • Brought communal sports equipment (frisbees, footballs, soccer balls, and jump ropes) for students to use during breaks to alleviate stress

 

Committee 3: 

  • Thanksgiving Activities
    • Brought Karla’s Coffee Cart to campus
    • Organized Fall Coffeehouse 
    • Worked with the Cafeteria to provide free pumpkin pie
    • Provided chalk for students to use on the Quad
  • Winter Coffeehouse
    • Organized a Coffeehouse to allow students to perform in a warm environment 
  • Standardized Course Surveys 
    • Worked with Mr. Barker (Director of Institutional Research) on logistics surrounding the Standardized Course Surveys 
  • Cafeteria Reforms
    • Sent a form about snacks and drinks students want the cafeteria to offer
    • In the process of implementing these changes 
  • Environmental Reform
    • In the process of identifying changes that can be made by the cafeteria and campus operations team to be more environmentally friendly 

 

Full Council:

  • Organized additional student discounts with Alfred Coffee, Shake Shack, and Sweet Butter Kitchen 
  • Brought back Honor Board Reports and Honor Code Reminders to increase transparency and prevent violations of the Honor Code 
  • Presented to Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Seminars to spread awareness about the Standardized Course Surveys 
  • Assisted administration in organizing a grand opening event for Mudd Library
Quarter 1
Quarter 1

Clubs Committee:

PURPOSE: Maintain an inclusive and efficient club system; help club leaders promote and grow their clubs, including organizing the Activities Fair and approving club grants; tighten up on club rules to ensure clubs are active in supporting student interests. 

Accomplishments:

  • Streamlined club application to make it more manageable and accessible for leaders
  • Collaborated with returning club leaders, advisors, and SLIDE to approve 94 clubs
  • Organized meeting times and locations to avoid scheduling conflicts
  • Collaborated with the maintenance crew to make sure all student groups had what they needed at Activities Fair (food, tables, etc.)
  • Record club attendance every cycle and actively communicate with club leaders about expectations 

Goals for Q2

  • Continue recording club attendance and ensuring clubs meet regularly 
  • Coordinate logistics for club grants 
  • Prepare for Second Semester club applications 

Fanatics Committee:

PURPOSE: Increase school spirit and pride through electing Head Fanatics, producing the Fanatic Fest pep rally, and organizing Spirit Week leading up to it.

Accomplishments:

  • Ran Head Fanatic Elections and elected 4 Senior Head Fanatics and 2 Junior Head Fanatics
  • Planned and promoted Spirit Week activities and dress up themes 
  • Collaborated with maintenance, HW Drumline, administration, fall sports coaches and captains, Cheer Squad, Dance Team, and Head Fanatics to organize Fanatic Fest
  • Met weekly with Mr. Martin and the Tech Team about Fanatic Fest production logistics 
  • Planned dress rehearsals the week of Fanatic Fest

Goals for Q2:

  • Continue to work with Head Fanatics on supporting winter and spring sports 
  • Work on increasing student spirit levels and participation

Homecoming Formal Committee:

PURPOSE: Plan an enjoyable and well-attended Homecoming Formal, with exciting Homecoming Formal asks leading up to it. 

Accomplishments:

  • Worked with maintenance and outside of school companies to arrange the food, decorations, and activities at homecoming formal
  • Recorded budget information, song lists, and general feedback for future reference
  • Collaborated with students doing public asks and arranged logistics like music, speakers, chair set ups, and student participation to make them as interactive as possible 
  • Produced teaser videos and marketing posters
  • Used Didax and ID scanners during Lunch and Community Time/Conference Time blocks to make the ticket purchasing process as easy as possible 

Goals for next year:

  • Change dinner menu and have a larger supply of drinks
  • Improve the organization of ticket sales to make sure students know when they’re being sold 

Full Council: 

Accomplishments:

  • Advised the administration on the Mental Health and Wellness Plan
  • Created temporary Silent Study locations
  • Collaborated with local restaurants to offer student discounts
  • Collaborated with the LA Kings to offer free tickets for students
  • Organized a Food Truck Friday with Joe’s Pizza
  • Presented about the Honor Board to sophomores
  • Decorated campus for Halloween and organized activities
  • Received a briefing on student survey data from the Director of Institutional Research

Goals for Q2:

  • Organize November Field Day, Thanksgiving events, Winter Week, a coffeehouse event, and a sports tournament
  • Work on various large and small reforms to improve student life
