The EIF REVLON Run/Walk for Women will take place on Saturday, May 8th. The Harvard-Westlake School team number is 569. To receive 6 hours of outreach, middle school students must register themselves which requires a fee of $30 (registration fee increases as of April 6th) and raise a minimum of $25 toward the fight against breast and ovarian cancer. Packets (pink fact sheet and H-W permission slip) will be available outside AC 218 by early March. Students should register themselves as soon as possible. For more walk information or to register online, they should visit www.revlonrunwalk.com. Students must always use the H-W team number of 569 when registering and this number should be on all paperwork (i.e. envelopes, checks, etc.). Those students participating need to read both sides of the packet’s pink cover sheet carefully.
The Kids 4 Kids Run/Walk is scheduled for Sunday, April 25th. This event takes place at L.A. LIVE (across from Staples Center) and benefits the Children’s Cancer Research Fund. For more information on the walk visit the website: www.ccrf-kids.org. Harvard-Westlake students will be participating; however, there will be no transportation provided to the walk by the school. Students will check in and turn in their money at the site. To receive 6 hours of outreach, a middle student must register which requires a fee of $10 and raise a minimum of $40 for the cause. Packets (blue fact sheet, special blue H-W walk form and H-W permission slip) will be available outside AC 218 by early March. Students should take the blue outreach form to the walk to be signed there and then turn in the signed blue form to AC 218 the Monday after the walk.
Big Sunday Weekend is scheduled this year to take place Saturday, May 1st and Sunday, May 2nd. This is an annual, city-wide volunteer weekend. It is a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to work together. There are work sites throughout the greater Los Angeles area. One can sign up for short activities as well as those that last an entire day. Check out the event at www.bigsunday.org. The list of this year’s work sites will be posted on the Big Sunday website around April 1st. Individuals may sign up for a site near home. Keep checking the website and sign up early. Students should take a middle school outreach form with them the day they work and ask their site supervisor to sign it.
