FAQs

On this page, we will be putting up questions and answers that more than one person may have. This doesn't mean you shouldn't email us if you have a question, but this can be a faster way to get your answer.

Q. How do I sign up for a conference?

A. The HWMUN secretariat will e-mail all members of the club (grades 9-12) around a month or two before a conference and ask who would like to participate in the conference. By responding, you are counted in the delegate count that we send to the school hosting the conference. If you respond that you'd like to participate but later find out you can't, a simple e-mail explaing that you can't make the conference will excuse you, but please let us know.

Q.What if I don't know what to do at a conference?

A. That's OK! You most likely will not be the only one in that situation. Reading the MUN packet given at the first meeting will help you learn most of the conference procedure and lingo. You should also fill out the country profile sheet attatched at the end of the packet to get the basic information necessary to an informed delegate. If you feel you need more help, you can always e-mail us with questions.

Q.Is MUN a lot of work?

A. The club meets once before each conference you attend (not for freshmen) so it doesn't take a lot of school time. For each conference, it is required to fill out the country profile sheet which is information that can all be found on-line. Extra research is recomended for a successful conference. Basically, you'll get as much out of it as you put in.

What are the requirements for the club?

A. Country Profile sheet to be turned in the monday before the conference and attendence at the HWMUN conference and one other conference.
