The 1996 Rose Bowl was deadlocked at seven. Early in the second quarter, the tide of the game changed. The USC fullback, senior Terry Barnum, playing in his final game as a Trojan, caught a 21 yard touchdown pass to give USC a lead they would not relinquish. STOMPING GROUNDS: The varsity boys’ basketball team does the stomp before the tip-off of every game. The team completed this ritual before beating Oxnard 71-68 Saturday.

As the varsity boys’ basketball team converged at center court, the crowd went silent. The team huddled together and began stomping towards the center-court logo. The stomps were accompanied by chant-like screams, and players came together, jumping up and down with their hands held aloft.

Hudnut joins Cal water polo staff

Peter Hudnut ’99 joined the University of California Berkeley’s women’s water polo team’s staff last Friday, said Head Coach Rich Corso, who coached Hudnut when he was at Harvard-Westlake. Hudnut, who will now be a volunteer assistant coach for Berkeley’s team, plays for the U.S. national team.  He is also currently training with the team for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
