Yearbook advertisements are being eliminated this year, and good riddance. The exorbitantly expensive advertisements, which cost $950 per page, were mostly purchased by senior parents saying congratulations and farewell to their children, but in recent years, have served only as vanity pages.

A few weeks ago, my brother got his eighth grade schedule. I was probably more excited about it than he was, as a rush of nostalgia for the Middle School overwhelmed me along with the familiar names of his teachers: “Salerno, Karen” and “Dohr, Jennifer.”

Harvard-Westlake is getting a facelift. The football field has lights, the Middle School will soon resemble a junior college, and we might be on the verge of receiving tablet computers for every student in a few years.
