It seems to me that every Harvard-Westlake student is a gung-ho activist for a noble cause—I’m amazed at how many are devoted to cleaning the earth, spreading genocide awareness, building homes for those in need, and helping underprivileged children.

Last week, my history class was learning about President Thomas Jefferson. Although he is now glorified and featured on those rare $2 bills, Jefferson actually represented the epitome of hypocrisy and self-contradiction.

A few weeks ago, I was perusing the mail, when I stumbled upon an unnecessarily thick envelope. At first glance it did not seem important to me so I was inclined to put it aside; however, on a whim, I decided to see what was inside. It was my family’s cell phone bill.
