Rocketry Club wins grant from NASA
 

The Rocketry Club received a $3,700 grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to build a rocket which can carry a scientific payload a mile into the air.

Republican club hosts candidate

A workers compensation lawyer who ran unsuccessfully as the Republican candidate for a state assembly seat spoke to about 50 students on Oct. 23 at a meeting booked by the Young Republicans.

Prefects announce sandwich pre-order

Students can now pre-order sandwiches in the cafeteria for a quick pickup between classes.

New art classes to be offered next year

Music Appreciation and Studio Art History will be offered as classes next year after being approved last week by the Faculty Academic Committee. Orchestra teacher Mark Hilt proposed the new music course, which had been a long-time goal of his, while Visual Arts teacher Arthur Tobias created Studio Art History.

Photography classes visit local museums

Visual arts teacher Kevin O’Malley and his photography classes Advanced Photo IIA, Advanced Photo IIB and Advanced Photo III explored art museums throughout Los Angeles on class field trips.

Deans prohibit food in lounge after trial fails

The deans set a new rule declaring that no student may eat or drink in the student lounge.

Signs remind students to 'Turn off the lights!"

The Environmental Club is attempting to raise awareness about conserving energy through a series of projects, most recently by putting signs near light switches and computers saying "Turn me off!" and sponsoring a beach cleanup on Dec. 7.

Geology teacher initiates trip to save monument

Geology teacher Wendy Van Norden will take students interested in helping preserve the natural monument, Trona Pinnacles, to Trona, Calif. in December for an overnight trip. They will help with projects that the land management ranger in charge of the monument deems appropriate.
