Gavin McCourt ’09 was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 39th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft earlier today.

McCourt was an all-league outfielder for the varsity baseball team last year. He told the Los Angeles Times today that he was surprised to find out he had been drafted.

McCourt also played football and soccer last year, earning him the Schumacher award, which is given to the rare three-sport athlete, at the annual all-school awards assembly May 26.
