Varsity girls' soccer triumphs in first round of CIF

After a week-long day layoff from the end of the regular season, the girls’ soccer team defeated Quartz Hill 3-1 in the first round of CIF playoffs yesterday.
The girls were excused from school at noon for the 3 p.m. game in Lancaster.
After the Wolverines scored the first two goals, Quartz Hill responded to narrow the gap to 2-1. But minutes later the Wolverines scored again to seal the win.
The team is playing Arcadia next Tuesday, with a coin flip to decide where the game will be played.
