Nearly 1000 students on campus during summer
More than 700 students are attending athletic camps, SAT prep classes, film, acting and journalism camps and enrichment programs on the upper school campus this summer. Another 200 students are practicing with their athletic teams.
Chemistry teacher retires after 25 years
Chemistry teacher Stephen Marsden retired from his teaching post, Head of School Jeanne Huybrechts wrote in an email to faculty Tuesday morning.
Start date to change in 2009-'10
In the fall of 2009, the school year will begin and end one week earlier in the name of streamlining the schedule, Head of School Jeanne Huybrechts said.

Dara Torres '85 to swim in her 5th Olympic Games

Dara Torres '85 will swim for the U.S. Olympic team for the fifth time in Beijing, China next month, after winning both the 50 meter and the 100 meter races at the U.S. qualifying rounds last week, according to the U.S. Olympic team website.
Construction halts access to Middle School July 3

Starting July 3, there will be no public access to the Middle School.
Due to construction at the Middle School, all power and phone service to the Administration Building will be terminated on July 3. Middle School personnel will be working at the Upper School for the remainder of the summer. No Middle School direct dial numbers will work as of July 3. The main number (310-274-7281) will ring and will be answered on the Upper School. The best way to reach Middle School personnel is via email.
Peter Hudnut '99 to compete at Olympics in Beijing

President Thomas C. Hudnut's son, Peter '99, will compete on the U.S. Water Polo team at the Olympics in August.
Director of food services remembered for dedication, smile

Thiak Lor, director of food services, died June 6 after a long battle with cancer.
